So when I last left off the Shimazu had declared war on me catching me totally off guard as they are one of the first Major clans to get picked off in this game, the other being the Tokugawa clan who historically became the rulers of Japan. So naturally I neglected to have any troops stationed in my southern most territory as the only enemy I would ever have to fight were my allies.
Well fuck. The bastards not only blitzed my capital but the entire southern and eastern part of the island. Seems the Shimazu aren't ones for waiting around. Well neither can I, so after the Shoni dealt with the Christian rebels I funded and had 1/4 of their army die I moved in and killed everyone.
Then Proceeded to take over the province having destroyed any real opposition as the AI tends to make one grand army according to its monetary situation.
So after putting my auxiliary force defending me from a mainland invasion I marched this army down to meet the Shimazu for 1 of 2 of the most glorious battles I fought in Kyushu.
Now going in facing the Shimazu clan was very daunting for me as they have access to the best Katana samurai in the game. I'm not really a fan of going into fights that I'll most likely lose so planning this out was going to be pretty interesting, even more so do to the fact that they had upgraded their units with armor upgrades making them more duarble for a fight.
I decided taht the best way to handle this was drawing them out by pelting them with arrows to soften them up and then charge in and kill everything that moved. This didn't go as planned as all their troops were hidden in the damn forest. Honorabu my fucking ass.
So after throwing men all around the forest and relocating my spearmen to the left side of them they all popped up like roaches when you turn on a light.
After seeing where everything was I decided to just throw everything I had at them. Unfortunately so did they.
I was going to hurl these peasant forces at their back lines to try and stop their archers from shooting my men but they decided to circumvent that little move by throwing two units of samurai at me to kill them all. At the same time both their generals charged at my archers but luckily my rifleman got a few lucky shots and killed about half of them.
This is where the battled turned in our favor as their main general got caught in a fight with my general and some sword infantry who were just passing by and decided to kill a nobleman.
Then it was time to stop those damn archers from shooting at me so much.
This shot also allows you to see the other general in the far back with the torn green banner. He didn't do so well either. Chasing around all my archers slowed him down enough for me to get one good shot off.
After taking about 60 bullets to the chest the rest of the army collectively shit their pants and ran.
Some pretty nasty casualties on my side but the sacrifice was more than worth it because this victory spelled defeat for the Shimazu, for with the death of the faction leader and the heir they had no real way of fighting back. I then spent a year and a half killing every Shimazu army I came across. Also with this victory I was given the option to give out or stockpile a really good harvest, probably due to all the bodies left in the fields.
I chose to stockpile as I didn't want to have my farms burnt in some desperation attack.
Now on to conquest.
Even during my whole revenge conquest I took my auxiliary army and killed off the Shoni as I didn't want them coming back to bite me in the ass later.
But back to current events, due to my butt fucking of the Shimazu I have now been recognized by the Emperor. Glory is ours. Wait, whats that over there?
OH GOD DAMNIT! Fucking sneak attack comes out of nowhere, luckily though their army has been revealed as complete shit as swords cut through spearmen like butter. I shall have my revenge Sagara! REVENGE!
